– In Summer Megafon we want to show you more of the places where the volunteers are spending the majority of their projects. This time, Andrea Moreno, Kjara Matija and Nazaret Puente shared with us a few of their experiences in their kindergartens.

Kjara Matija, Kindergarten in Gardeja

“Working in the kindergarten with children is one of the things that makes me feel happier at the end of the day. To get to Gardeja I have to take the bus every day because the village is 20 min away from Kwidzyn. The children I work with are 5 or 6 years old and they are super lovely, smiley, active and very smart. Being under their presence every day gives you a satisfaction that I can not describe in words.

Although I am still learning Polish and I do not understand it very well the children yet, the teachers always try to make my job there very easy and that makes me feel very comfortable.
With the children, we do various activities such as games in the garden but also outside, drawings, work with plasticine, watch cartoons and create different hairstyles (girls’ favorite activity)”.

“Working in the kindergarten is such a rich and full of different feelings experience. Some days there are loud voices and even tears, but seeing the smiles in their little faces or being hugged every time I arrive makes it worth it.

In the beginning, I was feeling a bit lost and wasn’t really sure what I should do there, but as time passed I realized that, besides fulfilling their basic needs and keeping an eye on their security, they just need someone to be there, to listen to them, join their games, and why not, to be the target of a tickle battle.

So definitely, working in the kindergarten feels a little like going back to your childhood and being a little kid again.

PS. Not everything is so funny, kids make a real mess every time they eat 😐”.

Nazaret Puente, Smyk Kindergarten

“I feel very happy working at the kindergarten. I am in a class with the youngest children, whose physical and psychological development I have been able to see and learn during this time.
I am lucky to see how they discover everything that is surrounding them, how they start to speak, to walk, to do different things”.
