The presentation about Morocco at Akwedukt is already behind us!

The last Friday evening of February at Akwedukt was filled with the scent of spices, colorful stories, and craftsmanship straight from the heart of Morocco. Together with our volunteer Asma, we embarked on an extraordinary journey following the traces of the Amazigh people. We discovered a culture that forms the foundation of Moroccan identity — authentic, proud, and full of meaning.

🏺 What fascinated us during this meeting?
Our journey was far more than an ordinary lecture. It was an immersion into a world that often remains hidden beyond the windows of tourist buses. We focused on three main pillars:

1. Traditions that are still alive

We learned that everyday life in Morocco is much more than just mint tea. It is a fascinating mixture of:

  • Extraordinary hospitality, which is both a duty and a joy.
  • Daily rituals that strengthen the community.
  • Deep respect for one’s roots, visible at every step.
2. Carpets that speak 🧶

The art of weaving turned out to be something far deeper than simple decoration. We discovered that every pattern on a traditional carpet represents:

  • The recorded story of a particular family.
  • Emotions woven into the wool.
  • A unique language of women who tell stories about their lives through the patterns they create.
3. Symbolism written on the skin 🖋️

We explored the secrets of traditional Amazigh tattoos. These powerful symbols carry:

  • Protection against evil.
  • Pride in tribal belonging.
  • A personal story about origin and social status.

✨ Authenticity above all
We are glad that we could share this unique perspective with you — one that is difficult to find in commercial travel guides. Thanks to Asma, we had the opportunity to see Morocco through the eyes of its people.

Thank you all for your presence and shared energy!
