The last fisherman- a great documentary film which worth to watch!
We are welcoming everyone to DKF next Monday for a documentary film:
The last fisherman/ Ostatni Rybak
Our documentary is the story of a 70-year-old fisherman named Malcolm Baker; the last traditional fisher of the Rame Peninsula, Cornwall.
Malcolm’s way of life is under threat.
The fishing industry is focusing on quantity over quality, implemented through mechanised processes that leave no room for pulling posts and shooting nets by hand. The villages where he lives is changing into a holiday resort, occupied only in the summer, leaving both villages dark and without life in the winter.
To Malcolm’s disappointment, no youngsters would like to take over his work, leaving many skills to be swept away on a future tide.
Despite these challenges Malcolm endures, until out of nowhere, an unlikely friendship with an Austrian youth worker nurtures hope, not just for the last fisherman of Rame, but for the next generation who are in need of a tailwind.
During the meeting there will be polish translation
