Place No 1 – The Municipal Cultural Center (Gminny Ośrodek Kultury) Duration: 1 x 12 months, 1 x 6 months

The Municipal Cultural Center is a self-government cultural institution, working since 2003. It conducts activities related to the organization of free time, multi-directional development and satisfies the cultural needs of residents, disseminates and promotes local culture in the country and abroad.

Tasks that belong to Center include:

1. Organizing various forms of cultural education and education through art.

2. Creating, protecting and sharing cultural assets.

3. Creating conditions for the development of amateur artistic movement.

Suggested activities for the volunteers:

Supporting the educational activities of three workshops: Art Workshop Podgórze, Art Embroidery Workshop and Sculpture Workshop, cooperation with instructors in supporting them in conducting workshops for organized groups of children and adolescents.

Own activities – inspiring young people, children and residents of the commune to develop their hobbies, organizing opportunities to broaden their interests, language animation, organization of activities, e.g. art, music, painting, etc joint bottom-up and solidarity activities – actions, events. Volunteers can also help children with homework, practice English and teach their own native language and culture. The volunteer’s artistic skills can also be used in independent activities. Co-organising of various outdoor events, concerts, started from planning, promotion, preparing/cleaning rooms, materials, food and drinks if it is needed, documentation.

Profile:

A charismatic and motivated person who has no problems establishing new contacts, meet new people, open and ready to share his/her knowledge, passion and interests. Ready to work independently and in a group, motivated to work with different age groups. Candidates should like working with children and young people, be creative and communicative. Basic knowledge of English is crucial – to be able to communicate freely with instructors, youngsters, kids. A good advantage would be having artistic education or derivatives or experience in implementing artistic and educational projects on a cultural level, but this is not mandatory.

Place no 2 – Youth Educational Center for difficult girls.

Duration: 1 x12 months, 1 x6 months

Center is functioning as a school – we have important role in the process of resocialization of the girls placed in our unit by the court of law. . In our work, the most important is the well-being of the pupil, her harmonious development and future, regardless of her previous experience. We try to diversify the educational process for the students as well as to help them to integrate with the local society by taking part in different cultural and educational events and prepared them for independence and conscious participation in social life.

Suggested activities:

Support in all spheres of working with the students eg. taking part in excursions, workshops, sports and drama activities as well as in everyday activities like doing homework, cooking or implementing projects connected with the process of education. It is also possible to participate in office works or in different kinds of classes conducted by teachers. Organizing and coordinating language animation, English classes for the workers of our school and students. Inspiring young people to develop their hobbies by creating presentations or organizing opportunities to explore their interests and hobbies, proposing own activities based on knowledge, history, culture.

Profile:

We are searching for a sensitive to the difference, responsible, patient and calm, open for new experience person. Someone wishing to develop their interests; preferred an artistically gifted person, the person could have skills that can be used in work with difficult teenagers, for example drawing, painting, playing an instrument, dancing, acting or having other passions and interests,

Motivated to work in a new environment, ready to work with teachers in the preparation, organization and conducting activities. Due to the great responsibility, we can host volunteer above 23 years old.

General conditions + practical arrangments

1. Timing: the project duration will not exceed 12 months.

2. Travel budget: based on the travel distance per participant. Travel distances must be calculated using the distance calculator supported by the European Commission. From 180 – 360 EUR/ both sides or real cost till the limit from distance calculator.

3. Language training: The language course will be provided by Online Linguistic System, we will provide some books, CD and materials to learn our language. We also expect from the volunteer studying Polish on her/his own, self-discipline and using possibilities to practice Polish language.

4. Training and support: you will get a mentor, who will be responsible for checking your progress in adaption to Polish culture and also will be helping if you have any problem. Except of trainings organized by Polish National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term), you will be given some trainings from us.

5. Food allowance

You will get 430 PLN for food at the beginning of each month. The sum is enough for own cooking in the flat. During the weekdays you should bring some sandwiches with you from home to office for lunch.

6. Pocket money: except of food money you will get 90/120 EUR for own expensives.

7. Communication: You will have a possibility to use WiFi Internet at home and at office.

8. Holidays: 2 days of holidays during each month of the project. The free days can be combined and used together. Holidays must be discussed and agreed with the project coordinator.

9. Working schedule: working hours Monday – Friday are between from 08.00 am till 5.00 pm. The working hours can be different in Kwidzyn, depend on the needs.

10. Accomodation

Every flat consists of 2-3 rooms; the kitchen and bathroom are shared.
Important – volunteers are sharing rooms (2 people in the room). Possible to share a flat with mix gender.
Every flat has an internet connection, flats are free for volunteers, our organization is paying the rental and common costs like electricity, water, heating, garbage, internet.
