Culture Week in the summer

Life in Akwedukt without any kids?! No it is unimaginable!

It was not different in the begining of summer either. We organised two Culture Weeks just after the school finished.

The first was from 25-29.06. We had 22 kids during our activities. The children were age 5-9. It was a great pleasure to meet and be with them. Of course it was little bit difficult, since it the first experience working with this huge number of kids, but also if there is no difficulty we should not wait for big success either!

During this time, we had Spanish, Armenian, Turkish and Georgian day. Due to our volunteers, the kids got known these cultures. And how? Since they are quite young, we were rather playing with them, made handcrafts, cooking, shopping. We made helmets, we played spanish games, painted, made huge bubbles in the park. As a surprise the volunteers also performanced for them their play (Przygody w Bibliotece).

On the other one (02-07.07) the programme was quite different. Instead of playing a lot we give them more information, more knowledge. It doesn’t mean, naturally, that they did not have fun. For example we started a citygame. Concidering, how could you learn anything about another culture, place if you don’t even know where you are living.

That week we had Italian, Turkish, Hungarian, Armenian and Ukrainian days. The kids also made sweets, painted, created, played Kahoot! (it was the most popular game). In the end we celebrated the week with eating ice-cream and watching the pictures about the camp.

We would say that after this two weeks we need some time for resting for sure, but after we are ready to have the rest of the Culture Weeks. (30.07-03.08; 20-25.08) Also we are looking forward the new good memories and experience.
